We all experienced the challenges that 2025 brought to democracy and to our individual lives, but the year ended on a high note for the progressive movement and democracy building in Texas. Four years ago, Blue Horizon set a goalpost to contest every single state legislative race, and in 2025, the hard work paid off. For the first time in 50 years, Democrats in Texas are officially contesting every single state and federal race. That’s just step one, but it’s an essential one.
2025 was a busy year here at Blue Horizon Texas. From detailing thousands of local and state offices in our new statewide database of all elected offices in Texas—to reinvesting in a filing fee fund to put Democrats on the ballot, we put in the work to make sure that voters would have a meaningful choice at the polls this November and for years into the future.
We’re already hard at work helping candidates and engaging voters in advance of election day—mark November 3 on your calendar! But we did want to reflect on a few of the things we achieved last year.
Every election cycle, Blue Horizon is getting closer and closer to our ultimate goal: to leave no Texas race unchallenged. And while Texas Democrats are contesting every single state and federal race on the ballot, work remains especially at the county and local level… both to bring tangible support and resources to current candidates and to continue building a candidate pipeline so voters always have strong, prepared progressive candidates on the ballot, no matter where they live or how small the race.
With your help, new Blue Horizon candidates have immediate access to our supporter community, one-on-one mentorship with our co-founders, elected officials, and past candidates, and a standing invitation to attend our group training sessions.
Day in and day out, these folks are hitting the campaign trail as hard as possible, doing whatever it takes to really connect with voters and neighbors in their own communities. Thanks to your generosity, Blue Horizon is right there with them providing moral support, essential training, and tactical expertise.
