Roe v. Wade

It's a horribly sad day. We knew it was coming, but it's still a gut punch, and it caps off a week of bad news from SCOTUS. We are now living the consequences of a status quo that doesn't invest in places that are deemed unwinnable. When we abandon vast swaths of the country, we cede the levers of power to those who are intent on consolidating their power and silencing the voices of the great majority.

So what do we do now? We cry, we breathe, we rest, and then we keep on going. Because the alternative is a continued erosion of our rights. Here at Blue Horizon Texas, our plan hasn't changed. We work in the hardest districts of the state to build infrastructure and prepare and support candidates willing to stand in the breach--because it's all up to the states from here forward. The path forward now is to doing the long-term work to elect leaders who will fight back. It won't happen overnight, but neither did the reversal of Roe v. Wade. We have to be just as committed to clawing back our rights as the other side was in ripping them away.

In the near term, here's what you can do:

  1. Join us Thursday, June 30 at 6:30 pm to discuss Talking About Abortion Rights in this new post Roe v. Wade reality, with special guest Samantha Fields, Blue Horizon Board Member and Campaign Organizing Specialist for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.

  2. Complete our Volunteer Intake Survey to get involved with Blue Horizon special projects or to connect with a campaign in need.

  3. Donate to support our work.

We keep going because the alternative is to accept the unacceptable, and we won't do that.
